I just did a search on Google for “international seo” and right under number 10 was this social search result:

“Results from People in your social circle for international seo”
My buddy and fellow link builder Ryan Clark was my 11th result. It’s a bit ironic that the result is actually a guest blog I wrote for his site last year.
This new feature is in Beta and it will tell you how you know the person, this result says “connected via Gmail”
If you click the “my social circle” link on the result, it brings up a list of people you both know in common. For Example the result below shows “Polyana De Oliveira” as a common connection via Twitter,

turns out when I looked into those she follows on twitter I found that she is following both Ryan and myself.
The impact this could have on SEO is huge and brings up some food for thought that the more people you connect with on social networks, the more people’s Search Results you will affect.
There is allot to explore here and I foresee this becoming quite prominent as social media and SEO converge.

For me this was the best lesson I have heard at the recent OMS/SES San Jose when Rand Fishkin talked about this very briefly. And also brings me back to an old blog post on AIMClear by Marty that I cannot remember anymore but it was about influencing personalize search results.
But to sum this up in my own words:
- The more your social circle increases… the more your own web properties may appear in your client’s social search results when logged into Google.
- The more your own web properties appear, the higher the possibility of it getting clicked and viewed on your friends browsers.
- The more it gets clicked and viewed, the more you are influencing their personal search results making your site rank well in your circle of friends.
My bad, that supposed to be SES San Diego, not San Jose. Got used to saying San Jose whenever I say SES. LOL
@Benj Arriola : The post you mention is here: http://www.aimclearblog.com/2009/11/29/how-to-exploit-personalized-search-for-seo/
Thanks for the shout out and to International SEO .BIZ for hosting the conversation.
Thanks aimClear and Benj for the great commentary, social or personal search is getting interesting and tactics are being uncovered by SEOs to leverage it in different ways.
